Guest Post: Huggies Potty Dance Party

Amy and I hosted a house party over the weekend featuring Huggies’ Pull-Ups and their new “Potty Dance” song designed to motivate toddlers into ditching the diaper. Amy and I planned this party without knowing for sure what to expect in our package from Huggies. We decided we would play the video and have a boy potty (from her boys) and a girl potty (for my girl) along with some stuffed animals and extra pull-ups to get everyone more comfortable with the idea of using the potty. We offered snacks (of course) as well as plenty of toys because we all know how long the attention span of a two-year-old is! Amy volunteered her home, and we were set.

I was excited for this party because my daughter, who is about 2 ½ years old, likes diapers, not Pull-Ups. I bought pull-ups for her in the past and she wanted to wear Mickey or Pooh Bear, which are on diapers. Pull-Ups have princesses, and I guess the princesses don’t make the cut to be seen on her rear. I was hopeful that this package we were to receive and the party would show us the way to underwear.

The package arrived about 5 days before the party. Upon opening, I was thrilled to find coupons (because we all LOVE coupons,) and the rest was a bit confusing. There were 7 DVDs that did NOT have the Potty Dance video, 15 plastic mats that were supposed to be instructions for toddlers on how to do the dance, and a nice gift to the hostess to say thank you. I was a little disappointed, but I am trying to not look a gift horse in the mouth.

Despite the lack-luster party package, we made the most of it. We cut up a plastic mat and hung the pieces up to decorate the house. (By we, that was mostly Amy. Amy even made an apron out of a mat!) We watched our kids devour grapes, apples, and cheese, and we played the song from a laptop once or twice. The kids played with the potties a bit, and the moms chatted away.

I honestly didn’t think my little girl took anything from the party until we got home, and the diaper refusal began. Then, out of nowhere, my four-year-old son started singing the Potty Dance song he’d only heard a few times!? I was amazed; it worked. She has shown more interest in going potty, and I am hopeful that I will soon have a little girl in panties! Maybe it was backmasking or something, but that song convinced my two-year-old that diapers are passé! Thank you, Huggies! Thank you, Potty Dance!

Thanks Celia for your post!

Panera: MyPanera Rewards Card

The Dayton area Paneras (and several others across the US) are offering a new loyalty/reward card. It is a free program, and the with surprise rewards and even birthday bonuses. You can fill the form out in store, or register online. (It is faster to register online!) Though the details are, well… not there, any reward from Panera sound GOOD TO ME! (I’m crossing my fingers for a cinnamon crunch bagel!)

Note: Only select locations are participating. All of the Dayton area locations were listed, and a lot of Cincinnati locations were included, as well. You may want to check your local store’s participation on the site.

Do any of you already have a MyPanera card? Tell us what you guys get after signing up!

Kroger:Kroger Plus Card and Benefits

If you do any shopping at Kroger, the Kroger Plus Card is a must-have. It is a loyalty card that provides you with discounted prices, and other benefits. You can find the application at the customer service desk. It is a short form to fill out, and it is completely free. To get the best use from your Kroger Plus Card, you can also load e-coupons to your card. When you have e-coupons loaded to your card, the savings comes off automatically when you scan your Plus Card at the checkout. Here are the places to get e-coupons:

Shortcuts
If you go to the site linked above, and register your information, you can choose various coupons to load to your Kroger Plus Card.

Cellfire

Cellfire is very similar to shortcuts, only you can also load coupons to your cell phone to use. You do not have to use the cell phone coupons, you can just load the e-coupons to your Kroger Card, if you want.

Kroger

On Kroger’s website, you can find coupons to print and load onto your Plus Card. (Use the top link for a direct link to the e-coupons.)

Other benefits of the Kroger Plus Card:

Fuel Rewards

If you use a Kroger gas station, scan your Plus Card to get $.10 off per gallon or more, (depending on how much you spend in store.) Kroger has also recently teamed up with Shell to offer a $.10 discount. It sounds like you have to go in and tell them you want to redeem your fuel rewards, and then scan your card. I haven’t tried it yet, but you can read more about it here.

U Promise

U Promise is a college savings program designed for yourself or your children. You register your information, (including loyalty card numbers.) Then, you load “e-coupons” onto your cards. When you buy certain products, instead of that amount coming off your grocery bill, it is put into an account for college. (I highly recommend it!)

Now, go load up those coupons!!

Toy Review: Sassy The Carwash

So we are product testing a new pacifier for ebeanstalk.com, and also got a really cool toy in the mail from them also! It's by Sassy and is called The Carwash- it's target age is for 9mths up. Well, as soon as we got this little B had to get a bath with his new toy! Now since B is only 7 months he's still in a baby tub, so he couldn't play with the whole toy, but he got to play with the cars in his bath. Well, when 4 1/2 year old big brother C saw what 7 month old B got in the mail he was excited to try it out too! He wasn't even taking a bath, but played with it for most of the afternoon.

Now not only is it SUPER cute, but it lets your child use lots of different skills when playing with it. They can scoop water in one car, pour from another, one car squirts water and they can even wash the cars off with the carwash sprayer. There is a smooth road, a bumpy road, fun spinners and soft sponges to wipe the cars off. I know that both of my kids are going to love this toy for a long time. I especially love the fact that it's a floating carwash island for in the tub! Thanks eBeanstalk!

ebeanstalk is expert-selected baby and kid toys. You can even shop by specific age range to guarantee that your child is getting the perfect toy based on their age. I personally have never seen a website that does such a good job to guarantee that your child is getting something that is geared for their age perfectly. Each toy also comes with a custom instruction card with great playing ideas.

Do you have things that you love for your kids that are fun and secretly they are learning at the same time? Let us know in our comments!

(Sometimes these deals might even be nationwide ie-Lowes Build and Grow workshops)

Let us know any ideas you might have about stuff you would like to see on here. We'll review your ideas and see what we can do!
